Alongside Fanning, Nicholas Hoult and Phoebe Fox round out a perfect ensemble that makes this touching, historical series bright with promise. The show has been nominated for two Primetime Emmys.

10. Solar Opposites (IMDB Rating: 8 out of 10 stars)

Among our list of good TV shows on Hulu, we would be remiss if we didn't mention Solar Opposites, the animated series starring Justin Roiland, Thomas Middleditch, and Sean Glambrone. A goofy looking family of aliens move to middle America and compare life here on Earth with that back home.

solar-opposites image

From the creators of Rick and Morty, this tongue-in-cheek comedy is entertaining and proves that humanity and the problems we all face aren't reserved for human beings. The show features three seasons. Although this is an animated series, it is not for young children as it includes adult themes, sexual innuendo, and bleeped profanity. Fans give this show 8 out of 10 stars on IMDB.

Gypsy's mother suffered from Munchausen syndrome by proxy and fabricated various illnesses and injuries for her daughter and forced her to behave as if she were ill. The abusive relationship eventually took its toll on Gypsy, who finally asks her boyfriend to kill her mother.

the-act image

This dark biography is riveting with outstanding performances by Patricia Arquette, who plays Gypsy's mother, and Joey King, who plays Gypsy. There was only one season in 2019 which culminated at the point of murder. Time will tell if there is to be a follow-up season. The show won one Golden Globe award and was nominated for a dozen others.

Although this series is aimed at young adults and teens, there is something for everyone here. It's a truly unique and enjoyable experience to watch. However, get ready to cringe at so much awkwardness in one place.

pen15 image

There are only two seasons so far, but fans rate the show 7.9 out of 10 stars, so it looks to be a winner with a bright future and more seasons to come. Pen15 was nominated for one Primetime Emmy so far, but more are surely on the way if they keep up the good work.

IMDB classifies it as an action/drama/comedy, and it stars Christopher Abbott, Kyle Chandler, and Daniel David Stewart. If you love World War II shows, this one is for you.

catch22 image

George Clooney rounds out the all-star cast. Although the show is labeled a comedy, it feels more like a dark satire/drama than a straight comedy. The show was nominated for 2 Golden Globes along with another 17 awards. There is only one season so far. This one may not be for everyone, but for war buffs, it's a winner.

15. Mrs.America (IMDB Rating: 7.9 out of 10 stars)

16. Castle Rock (IMDB Rating: 7.6 out of 10 stars)

Based on Stephen King's fictional town of Castle Rock, Maine, from his many books, this series brings chilling stories to life. It doesn't hurt that each season features powerhouse actors like Lizzy Caplan, Bill Skarsgård, Sissy Spacek, Scott Glenn, and Tim Robbins. There are only two seasons, but they could easily be consumed as separate shows. One bears no resemblance to the other. Their storylines diverge, although there may be some intersecting themes between the two.

The stories are eerie, unique, and captivating in typical Stephen King fashion. The dialogue is to die for, and the chemistry between actors is electric. It stars Judy Greer, Amber Nash, Chris Parnell, Aisha Tyler, Lucky Yates, and Jessica Walter.

archer image

This is not a cartoon for your kids rich with adult themes, drugs, and sexual situations, but it is entertaining and very funny as an adult. IMDB calls it an action/animation/comedy, and it will leave you laughing out loud and wondering, "did they really just say that?"

Archer has won the Top-Rated TV award, plus 3 Primetime Emmys and countless other commendations. There are 11 seasons so you can binge-watch to your heart's content.

18. Elementary (IMDB Rating: 7.9 out of 10 stars)

Who doesn't like the chronicles of Sherlock Holmes? Elementary is a modern take on this beloved series starring Jonny Lee Miller as Sherlock Holmes and Lucy Liu as Dr. Joan Watson. Although the series follows the traditional lines of the famed genre, it takes place in New York rather than London.

elementary image

The chemistry between Miller and Liu makes it work. Each has their own demons to contend with while forming an unlikely partnership. The cases are exciting and fascinating to watch as they unravel each one. The series is also genuinely funny even when it isn't supposed to be.

This crime/drama/mystery series is a high-quality option that you won't be disappointed with. It has seven seasons and ends on a great note. It was nominated for 2 Primetime Emmys and a dozen or so other awards. In our book, this one is a must-watch!
